Attorneys

Marty Fleit is internationally known
in Intellectual Property (I.P.) law. He was a member of the advisory
board of the Patent, Trademark and Copyright Journal of the Bureau of
National Affairs. He has lectured at the World Trade Institute on
technology transfers, the Plastics Institute of America, the Patent and
Trademark Institute of Canada on antitrust, and elsewhere
throughout the world on filing and prosecuting patents and trademarks
and enforcement of domestic patents. During his tenure at his
Washington, D.C. law firm, Fleit Jacobson Cohn and Price, the firm was
rated among the top 10 U.S. patent law firms in filing and prosecuting
domestic patents.
Marty studied at Tufts University,
earned a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of New
Hampshire and a Law Degree at Georgetown University where he was a
member of the Law Review. Marty has engaged in litigation before
numerous U.S. District Courts, many U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals and
is admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Robert Kain has practiced I.P. law
in South Florida for many years. His B.E. Degree in Electrical
Engineering and Law Degree from Vanderbilt
University provided a foundation for his experience in U.S. and
international I.P. matters and in the highly technical fields of
computer and Internet law. Before returning to Florida in 1986, Robert
was patent counsel for General Electric and worked in Washington, D.C.
with Marty at Fleit, Jacobson, Cohn and Price.
He is a registered patent attorney
with the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to the Bars
of Florida, New York, the District of Columbia, numerous U.S. District
Courts and many U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Robert taught patent law, as an
adjunct professor of law, at Nova Southeastern University Law School,
lectures at various CLE seminars and has published many law review and
law related articles in the I.P. field.

Jon Gibbons is experienced in the
area of patents and technology licensing, with a unique combination of
legal, international marketing, and technical expertise. Jon is a
Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer and a Certified Software
Developer in C. These qualifications and skills support his high tech
experience in I.P. prosecution, I.P. transactions and related
litigation, business and strategy development. Jon worked at IBM as
Technology Licensing Program Manager and at IBM as a Robotics Engineer
in New York.
Jon earned his Law Degree
from the University of Miami, attended the Franklin Pierce Law Center
Intellectual Property Summer Institute, earned an M.S. Graduate Degree
in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University, a B.S. Degree in
Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University, and did graduate
studies in business at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
He is registered to practice
before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Florida Bar. He is
an Adjunct Professor of C Programming.

Jose Gutman is
experienced in patents, trademarks, and in business strategy matters
for technology products. Jose worked in the I.P. department of a major
South Florida law firm. Earlier he was Licensing Program Manager at
Motorola, a member of Motorola's I.P. Department and a Senior Staff
Engineer at Motorola for hardware and software design of wireless
communications technologies. He represents clients in technology
licensing, business strategy, and Internet-based transactions. Jose earned his Law
Degree, Cum Laude, at the University of Miami School of Law, an M.S.
Degree in Electrical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology, a
B.S. Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics and a B.S. Degree in
Marketing and Business Administration at Florida State University.
He is a registered patent
attorney in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to
practice before the Florida Bar. Jose is a past President of the Patent
Law Association of South Florida and a member of numerous I.P.
Associations.

Steve
Bongini practices extensively in the electrical and computer arts
including the fields of computer architecture, microprocessors, memory
design and fabrication, and consumer electronics. He came to South
Florida after practicing in Los Angeles at Pillsbury, Madison &
Sutro, and Loeb and Loeb. Earlier, Steve was an extern for the
Honorable Judge Reinhardt, United States Court of Appeal, Ninth Circuit
in Los Angeles, California.

Steve earned his J.D. at UCLA School of Law, after
doing graduate studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the
University of Miami, where he taught electronic circuit design. He
earned a B.S. Degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Electrical and Computer
Engineering at the University of Miami.
He is registered to practice
before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to practice
before the Florida Bar and the California Bar.

Paul
Bianco's practice is focused on intellectual property transactional
work, particularly in the areas of biomedical, materials, and
mechanical technologies. His practice includes patent prosecution,
licensing and agreements, opinion work, and client counseling. Prior to
joining Fleit, Kain, Gibbons, Gutman & Bongini P.L., Paul was an
associate in the Washington D.C. office of Pennie & Edmonds L.L.P.
Paul was graduated cum laude from the University of
Pennsylvania in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering. Paul
also earned his Masters of Science in Engineering and his Ph.D. in
Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1989 and 1993,
respectively. His graduate work focused on the use of ceramic and
metallic materials as implant materials. After finishing his Ph.D., he
completed a fellowship at the Center for Devices and Radiological
Health at the Food and Drug Administration where he studied the
cellular response to particulate materials. Both as a graduate student
and a post doctoral fellow, Paul published several peer reviewed
scientific papers and a book chapter and presented papers at
international conferences.
Paul was graduated cum laude from the Georgetown University
Law Center in 1997. At Georgetown, he was an executive editor of THE
TAX LAWYER and published a note entitled "Tax Refund Suits and
Equitable Tolling of the Statute of Limitations: Webb v. United
States." During law school, Paul spent a summer as an intern at the
United States Justice Department where he was assigned to the Vaccine
Litigation Division.
Paul is a member of the Bars of Virginia and the District of
Columbia and is admitted to practice before several Federal Courts. He
is further registered to practice before the United States Patent and
Trademark Office. Paul is a member of the Giles S. Rich American Inn of
Court, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the
Society for Biomaterials.

Jeff
Giunta has practiced in many areas of patent, trademark and copyright
law. He has served as patent counsel for Catalina Marketing Corporation
and has handled patent, trademark and copyright litigation and
prosecution in private practice. Jeff is a Registered Professional
Electrical Engineer and has worked in the areas of radar technology and
satellite, terrestrial and mobile digital radio communications. His
responsibilities included DSP and embedded software development, and
design and development of digital circuit and automated test fixtures.
He has been a staff engineer in both systems engineering and software
engineering for the U. S. Department of Defense, GTE Government Systems
Corporation and Trimble Navigation.
Jeff earned his Law Degree, Cum Laude, at the University of
Miami School of Law and his B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is admitted to practice before the
U. S. Patent and Trademark Office and in the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of Florida. Jeff is a member of the Florida Bar.

Thomas S. Grzesik is a registered patent attorney and concentrates his practice on Patent Prosecution and Trademark law, specializing in the electronic arts. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
While attending Chicago-Kent College of Law, Tom was one of the few students selected to be a founding member of Chicago-Kent's Intellectual Property Law Clinic.
Tom has prosecuted patent applications in the fields of wireless communication systems, wireless communication devices, satellite systems, electrical circuits, electrical components, electronic displays, semiconductors, computer hardware, computer networking, 3-D imaging, mechanical devices, eye wear, water softener systems, and many more.
Tom is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the Florida Bar and the Illinois Bar.

Darren Spielman concentrates his practice in the field of intellectual property, with an emphasis on trademarks, trade secrets, domain name disputes and copyrights. Darren has a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from University of Florida. He also earned a Masters in Mass Communications degree from the University of Florida, as part of a joint degree with the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Darren also completed the Intellectual Property Certificate Program during law school. The joint degree program permitted Darren to focus his Master’s studies toward a law related focus. Darren’s Master’s Thesis discussed the intricacies of Trademark Parody law. During his graduate studies, Darren also served on the University of Florida Honor Court and served as the Attorney General for the Court. Prior to joining Fleit, Kain, Gibbons, Gutman, Bongini & Bianco, Darren practiced law in Florida for several years primarily dealing with Insurance defense. Darren is also a member of the International Trademark Association.

Prior to joining the Firm, Gary Winer practiced intellectual property law with Dennison Manufacturing, preparing and prosecuting cases in the mechanical arts, as well as in the field of biological diagnostics, for its subsidiary Biological Technology Corporation. In addition, he worked at Alza Pharmaceuticals as a patent attorney, preparing and prosecuting cases predominantly in the fields of transdermal and timed release drug delivery systems. Gary later worked in corporate administration for Alza, after which he assumed responsibility for Legal and Administration for Omnitech Gencorp, a midsize computer sales and repair organization. Gary further has extensive experience in software programming, in assembler as well as object oriented languages. He has a B.S. Degree, with Honors, in Life Science Engineering (Major: Human and Microbial Genetics) from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and is a graduate, Cum Laude, of New England School of Law. Gary is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.

Loren Donald Pearson is a registered patent attorney focusing on patent and trademark prosecution. He has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1996. In addition, he advises his clients on general intellectual property matters and provides support to litigation counsel. While his experience spans most fields of technology, his expertise is in chemistry, in particular, polymer chemistry and photolithography. Prior to joining Fleit Kain, Mr. Pearson led his former firm’s chemical patent prosecution group.
Mr. Pearson earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami Law School in 1996. He was a member of the Yearbook of International Law. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Pearson was a research chemist for Rohm & Haas studying ion-exchange resins and acrylic polymers.
